Ducab HV

With an investment value of some US$136 million, the Ducab High Voltage Cable Facility in Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates, is the first dedicated high voltage cable manufacturing facility in the region. Opened by Dubai Ruler HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the new plant offers the latest in global HV technology to the UAE and the wider Gulf region and has enabled Ducab to increase production capacity by 15,000 tonnes per annum.

Following evaluation of various systems, Ducab HV opted to install Flowcrete products for its ability to offer a range of flooring able to withstand the 50-tonne transporter trucks used at the facility. The requirement to meet an accelerated supply and installation schedule was also a major contributing factor in the selection process.

For the main manufacturing zones, the heavy duty polyurethane system Flowshield LXP HD was installed to provide a flexible, easy to clean, highly durable floor topping. The seamless finish offers excellent chemical resistance and high abrasion resistance. For the areas subject to ultra heavy duty wear, Flowcoat LXP was installed while Flowshield Quartz was installed in areas with lighter traffic.

Some 28,000 sq metres of industrial flooring, representing in excess of 120 tonnes of polyurethane resin flooring materials, were manufactured locally in Dubai to meet the requirements of the project. The 32,000 m² installation was completed successfully within a 10-day window, in time for the official inauguration of the plant.
