One of the top ten oil and gas companies in the world specified Flowcrete flooring to help them create a new underground car park that encourages its employees to engage in environmentally friendly car pooling.

For its new Corporate Headquarters Tower in Abu Dhabi, a development valued at AED219 million, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) built a three level, 1,575 space underground car park.

The project developer chose to install the solvent-free, polyurethane, flexible, car park deck coating system Deckshield ES across the 78,000 m² car park facility to ensure a crack bridging, waterproof surface. These are essential properties for any car park floor as it protects the building’s concrete structure from harmful substances.

The floor plan includes easily identifiable car pooling spaces which have been marked out with bright blue flooring. These priority spaces are both bigger than the other parking spaces and closer to the main building. This floor design will not only benefit employees who choose to car pool, but it will subsequently lower overall car emissions and earn the building LEED® Credits to enhance its environmental credentials.

An attractive car park is essential to ensuring a good first impression, as it is the first sight that most visitors will have of a building. The Deckshield range has been specially formulated to provide a colourful surface that avoids unsightly floor failures from spoiling the car park’s appearance.
