It is imperative for the new contemporary Catalan-Mediterranean restaurant, situated in the Dubai International Finance Centre, that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times. The floor is critical to this, as a difficult to clean, cracked or porous finish can quickly become a site of dangerous bacteria build up.
150m2 of the hard wearing resin floor topping Flowfast Quartz was applied in the back-of-house kitchen with stainless steel drainage incorporated into the finish. This floor design meant that the restaurant’s owners and head chef Alain Devahive Tolosa could rest assured that the finish beneath the staff’s feet would minimise the risk of contamination.
Flowfast Quartz is made from colour stable quartz granules encapsulated in a clear acrylic resin binder. Its durability means that Flowfast Quartz will maintain a seamless, easy to clean surface despite prolonged exposure to the traffic, impacts, chemicals and temperatures inherent to a busy professional kitchen.
Fast curing methyl methacrylate (MMA) technology means that Flowfast Quartz is ideal for fast track applications – in most cases the floor will be able to receive full traffic after only 90 minutes, significantly earlier than most alternative flooring materials. This is a significant advantage for restaurants that can’t afford long periods of downtime or for construction schedules to overrun.
